Is Tajin Keto Friendly? Tajin Chile Lime Seasoning for Low Carb Snacks

Tajin Clasico Chile Lime Seasoning is absolutely, positively, keto friendly and low carb. In fact, with 0 grams of carbohydrates, this “spice” is a major favorite in flavoring healthy Latin snacks in the keto world. This goes for the Tajin snack sauce as well.

If anyone tries to tell you that doing a ketogenic diet is boring and bland, and therefore impossible to stick to, tell them to take their donuts and shove it!

A great snack using the Tajin seasoning that is growing in popularity in the low carb community, is to sprinkle it on top of sliced up cucumbers. A no cooking, 2 ingredient low carb, keto approved snack.

Are Tajin Seasonings and Snack Sauces Healthy?

Well, this is a slightly different question. The guage on whether or not Tajin products are keto friendly are based on the carb content of Tajin Seasoning and Sauces (Generally o grams in both cases).

This doesn’t mean there are not other concerns such as sodium benzoate, which is a preservative that is on many strict keto lists as harmful and the presence of this ingredient usually deems this product to be classified as “dirty keto”. Which as a side note, I find it interesting when people refer to certain foods as “dirty keto”. Everyone has a slightly different definition of that phrase. To me it simply means “I’m on a ketogenic diet…but sometimes I cheat!”.

Maybe you disagree and that’s fine, we can still be friends!

Back to the issue of sodium benzoate. This is a substance that is used to keep products fresh on the shelves and prevent spoilage and bacteria and other bad things like that. But of course, there always has to be a down side when it comes to the ingredients in our food that we can rarely pronounce.

Some studies have linked this stuff to all kinds of nasty things like cancer and DNA damage. Maybe that’s true, and I am definitely not downplaying these risks, but please take note that sodium benzoate is already in almost everything store bought you can think of including Coke and Pepsi, toothpaste, some pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, salad dressings, wines, fruit juices, sauces and you get the idea!

The point is, you should definitely be aware of the stuff going into our bodies these days, but at a certain point you will go completely insane if you are striving for absolute perfection.

In Summary:

I can’t promise that a little sprinkle of Tajin on your cucumbers won’t give you cancer, but for me personally, it sounds so delicious I might just take the chance.

It’s better than giving in to sugar cravings and stuffing my face full of pizza and soda. To each their own!
